Are your communication skills strong enough to truly carry your marriage through the roller coasters life throws at you? Can you and your spouse talk through a disagreement without bitter feelings or sleeping in the doghouse? Ever heard the song “There’s a Stanger in My House?” Do you and your spouse ever feel like complete strangers?

In the 2013 University of Maryland study researchers’ say woman use 20,000 words a day and men only use 7,000.  Is it any wonder with an average difference of 13,000 words that we might have a problem communicating from time to time?  After completing a similar study, The Center for Relationship Education teaches the next generation it takes 256 hours of TALKING to build a healthy foundation for a lasting relationship.  Now lets fast forward, we’re married, a demanding full-time job, beautiful children, and all their extracurricular activities that keep our schedule overbooked.  So, let’s be honest, when is the last time you made time to actually talk to your husband?  Not about the kids, not about the bills, but just you and him talking like in the old days before life got so crazy?

During this The Haven Marriage Center, Inc’s Thought Forum participants gauge their listening skills with The Marital Listening Ratio (MLR) exercise.

Thought Forum Courses are available to private, public, and Christian organizations and corporations who would like to offer wellness enrichment to their employees.
